Enjoying the hospitality of friends, and sitting with a few moments of calm on a sofa, thoughts became typed words…

Isn’t it interesting that The God who owns everything, both tangible and intangible, both micro and macroscopic, came down to give the only thing that would’ve been perceived as His by earthly eyes.

He came and borrowed the body of an unwed girl to be His mother, eventually sharing her with brothers whose biological blood was not fully His own. He borrowed a feeding trough from livestock to make His crib, and borrowed the roof that housed them. He borrowed a man to call dad, while never losing sight of His Father.

He learned His adoptive father’s profession, not making a name for Himself in worldly business. He borrowed the temple as a place to teach, and a boat where to lay His head. He borrowed seats at tables and enjoyed the hospitality of others, them having the divine gift of God in flesh to dine with them. He borrowed loaves and fish, only to give them back one thousandfold.

He borrowed burial oils and perfume, and the tears of a woman to wash His feet. He borrowed a garden as a place to pray, and He used a cross that was not meant for Him, only to be buried in a tomb that was not His own.

But the body He, Himself created, the body that earthly eyes would’ve seen as His, He owned, lived in and gave away freely, so that our borrowed bodies might have life eternal. And with these borrowed bodies, may we offer continual praise to the One who owns it all.
